Guidelines for Submissions
Films cannot exceed 10 mins in length (including credits), although we recommend keeping your film under 5 minutes.
Uploaded films can be no bigger than 100MB, but the smaller they are the quicker and easier it will be to upload them!
We can accept almost any video format for upload, including .wmv, .mov, .mpg or .avi.
If your video meets all the requirements and still won't upload, there may be a problem with the video compression you're using. Youtube recommends that for most users, the following settings give the best results:
Video Format: MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid)
Resolution: 640 x 480 pixels
Audio Format: MP3
Maximum length: 10 minutes (we recommend 2-3 minutes)
All our videos are uploaded through youtube. Processing time varies greatly depending on the format of your original video, file size and upload traffic. This could take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. If after 24 hours your film is still processing on the youtube site, we will remove it and send you an e-mail requesting that you upload the video again.
Multiple short film submissions are welcome (so make as many films as you like!).
All submitted films will be held Killriculum HQ and vetted before finally being uploaded to the Killriculum Gallery.
Submitted short films must not contain obscene, sexually explicit, unlawful or objectionable material. Although the genre is horror, films displaying any graphic violence will not be approved. Killriculum does not in anyway endorse, encourage or glorify the use of
knives or weaponry. Remember that in horror, what you don't see is often much scarier than what you do see! Less is more!
Submitted short films cannot promote racism, sexism or be affiliated to any political party or ideology. The short films created cannot promote any commercial product or services.
All films must be your own original work, including music, i.e. you cannot use your favourite rock band for the soundtrack or slip in any clips from your favourite horror films in the hope that we won’t notice!
You will need to get signed permission from everyone involved in the making of your film, in case it is selected for the Hello Digital showcase event, when you will need to send us all the necessary paperwork. You can download our general consent form from the link at the side. It’s very important you get everyone who contributes to this film to sign one!
Films selected for the ‘Hello Digital’ showcase event will be asked to submit a hard copy of their chosen film via DVD or mini DV tape.
Killriculum reserves the right to refuse any entry at its own discretion.
