Coming up with a premise or an idea for your film is everything and without it you will be sitting around not doing a lot. So you need to think of an idea for your film.

Most writers will tell you to write about something that you have experience of, well in horror that may not be the case. How many times have you been chased by an axe wielding psychopath or found out your best friend is a vampire? Just me then! If you haven’t been lucky enough to be in those situations you have to use your imaginations to help you write your script.

You have to remember that good horror is about having a sense of reality. There is nothing more disturbing than finding out that your brother is a serial killer in a hockey mask or your loving daughter has been taken over by the devil. Reality?! Horror that is close to home will always be more disturbing because it could happen to us.
